2004: Facebook and Alipay were born, the first close-up photos of Saturn’s rings were shared and the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) opened its doors as the largest regional conference centre in Queensland.
Since then, we’ve seen the introduction of the smartphone, smarthome, electric cars and crowdfunding; disruption from Uber, AirBnB and Netflix rocking traditional business models; 3D printing has become a vital tool. More than 2.3 billion people now use Facebook and 608 million use Alipay. And although we can’t boast billions of visitors, we do know delegates love the Gold Coast as it currently attracts 44% of all conferences in Queensland, offering the perfect balance of professional services and leisure appeal.
GCCEC has hosted thousands of events, welcomed delegates from all over the world to our destination, hosted major sporting events, music concerts, conventions, exhibitions, and gala dinners, received EarthCheck Platinum Certification before any other convention centre in Australia, supported several charities, completed a $40million extension and hope to grow even more in the near future.
GCCEC has cemented its reputation as a venue that offers flexibility, state of the art facilities, top quality service and food that rivals the most sophisticated restaurants in one of the world’s best destinations and we look forward to a bright future.
