I have applied for a position, what's the next step?

Once your application has been received, you will be assessed against the role requirements. If shortlisted, you will be contacted to progress your application to the next stage in our recruitment process.

Will I be notified of my progress?

Yes, you will be advised if you have been shortlisted for the position by phone.  This will be followed by a short ten-minute telephone screening to determine your suitability for the role.

Those that do not make the shortlist will be advised of the outcome via email after the job advertisement has closed.

What should I prepare for prior to the interview?

An interview confirmation will be sent to you via email prior the interview.  This will include the date, time, interviewer and location.

You will also be required to read the task analysis which outlines the requirements of the job and complete the compulsory Pre-Placement Health Questionnaire prior to interview.

What can I expect in the hiring process?

The interview will be a mix of experience/skills based, situational and behavioural questions. You will also be provided with the opportunity to ask the Interviewers any questions you may have about the role, culture, or the Centre. Preparation and planning are key.

How can I best prepare for the interview?

Read about the role and the Centre and practice interviewing by role playing with family or friends.

Have an agenda and know what you want the interviewer to learn about you and anticipate questions that may be asked.

Know your knowledge, skills, abilities and accomplishments and relate them to the job that you are applying for.

Lastly, dress for success and be on time! You never get a second chance to make a first impression!

When will I be advised of the outcome of the interview?

You will be contacted by phone to advise of the outcome of your interview. At this point, you will be advised if your application is progressing to a second interview (if applicable), or job offer.

If you are not successful, we may offer you the opportunity to be placed in our ‘talent pool’ for future vacancies.

I can’t see a role that interests me, can I still submit my CV/resume for future opportunities?

Yes, we encourage you to upload your application to the “Expression of Interest” section for future job opportunities.

Do I need to be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to work at GCCEC?

No, however you must be eligible to work in Australia and this will be verified as part of the hiring process.
