Update from GCCEC Dec 2023

As we approach the close of the year, we’re thrilled to share the latest highlights from the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) – coming early to you in the hope of avoiding inbox fatigue!

It has been an eventful year at GCCEC. At the Centre of it all, we are committed to delivering extraordinary experiences to our clients, guests and our team, whilst attracting visitors to our exceptional destination.

Over the past year, GCCEC has played host to an impressive 128 events, contributing a staggering $220 million in economic benefit to our city. Beyond the financial impact, these events have seamlessly transformed business travellers into leisure enthusiasts, enticing them to explore the vibrant offerings of the Gold Coast.

We’ve welcomed sporting royalty including Tim Tzu, NBL players (drawing the attention of international scouts), global corporates, professionals and academics, politicians and renowned entertainers. It has been a year marked by diversity and vibrancy!

In exciting Gold Coast news, the range of accommodation choices continues to expand, as do the airline routes into Coolangatta and Brisbane airports, both within easy reach of our venue. Celebrating the success of our local businesses, the 2023 Queensland Tourism Awards saw Gold Coast businesses bring home multiple awards, dominating categories such as major tourist attractions and new tourism businesses.

This year, we have implemented a series of significant initiatives and are proud to have achieved:

  • Master level certification in sustainable practice: awarded through EarthCheck, underscoring our commitment to environmental responsibility
  • Accessibility accreditation: Recognised across all five areas through the Queensland Tourism Industry Council, ensuring that GCCEC offers an inclusive experience for all visitors
  • Welcome Story publication: in partnership with Autism Queensland, we have published our Welcome Story to assist neurodiverse visitors, reinforcing our commitment to inclusivity
  • State of the art audio-visual upgrade: a substantial investment in world-class vision and sound equipment to enhance the overall event experience
  • Relaunch of company values: Our company values guide our operations, and foster a positive team culture

We look forward to 2024 and the opportunities that it brings, whilst remaining committed to excellence and innovation.

Wishing you a wonderful holiday season!
