Commitment to Community at GCCEC

Our Commitment to Community at GCCEC

At the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, our commitment to community is an important part of how we approach sustainability. Alongside environmental performance, we focus on supporting meaningful causes and contributing to positive social impact across the communities in which we operate.

Throughout 2025, our team came together to support a range of charities through fundraising initiatives, practical support and everyday actions that collectively made a tangible difference.

Our 2025 Community Impact

Through GCCEC’s 10c bottle recycling initiative, which encourages delegates and team members to collect and return eligible containers, we raised $20,446 in support of four charities, as voted by our people.

  • Q1: Currumbin Wildlife Hospital
  • Q2: Bravehearts
  • Q3: Baby Give Back
  • Q4: OzHarvest

In addition, we raised $19,597 for the CEO Sleepout, supporting the work of Vinnies and contributing to vital services for Australians experiencing homelessness. This achievement placed GCCEC among the top ten fundraising organisations in support of the initiative.

Our commitment extends beyond fundraising. Throughout the year, our Kitchen team also supported Agape Outreach and Havafeed by donating surplus food, helping provide hot meals and food parcels to individuals and families in need.

Our Charity Focus for 2026

As we move into 2026, the 10c bottle initiative will remain central to how we support our community. Team members were invited to vote for the charities they care most about, ensuring the organisations we support reflect the priorities of our people. Based on the votes received, the following charities will be supported through the initiative in 2026:

  • Q1: Animal Welfare League QLD
  • Q2: McGrath Foundation
  • Q3: Make-A-Wish
  • Q4: Story Dogs

These partnerships will continue to deliver meaningful impact through small, consistent actions that support the causes that matter most.

Driven by Our People

Our community and sustainability initiatives are guided by a dedicated, employee-led Sustainability Team, made up of representatives from across the business. They play an active role in shaping priorities, championing initiatives and driving practical action across the Centre. This collaborative approach ensures our efforts remain relevant, accountable and grounded in the values of our people, while supporting meaningful outcomes for our community and stakeholders.

In recognition of their impact, the GCCEC Sustainability Team was named Team of the Year at our Centre of Excellence Awards, acknowledging their outstanding contribution to the business. Together, they continue to drive initiatives that create meaningful impact for both our business and the communities we support.
