Christmas 2016 saw the launch of a new initiative to support the charity organisation Act for Kids which helps prevent and treat child abuse and neglect.
The Build a Bike program proved to be so popular that it has increased almost seven-fold in 2017.
The program encourages Gold Coast businesses to donate the cost of a bike then work under the guidance of Miami business Mike’s Bikes to put the bikes together at GCCEC.
This year 54 bikes will be delivered to children around the Gold Coast in time for Christmas thanks to the generosity of businesses.
Staff at GCCEC are helping the charity in other ways with the donation of Christmas presents as well as gift wrapping at the Act for Kids stall in Robina Town Centre.
Staff are also decorating and donating gingerbread houses to Act for Kids and another of GCCEC’s partners OzHarvest.
‘Tis the season for giving and we certainly love to do so at GCCEC.
