26 June 2022
This month, the Centre will be a full house with over 20 conferences, exhibitions, trade shows and high-profile industry events – both interstate and international.
There’s a feeling of positive energy surrounding business events as we are invigorated by the ability to get back to business as usual.
Attendance across the board is growing from previously ‘careful’ numbers to capacity. We’re seeing creativity in events with planners going the extra mile to ensure that meetings are more memorable and more valuable than ever. We’re also experiencing a heightened awareness of sustainable practices in event planning.
Although staffing remains a challenge as the sector recovers from losses during the pandemic, our clients and visitors are reporting high levels of satisfaction and a commitment to return to GCCEC and the Gold Coast.
Over the past months, we’ve developed a suite of videos that we hope you’ll find valuable and inspirational. They cover sustainability, international bidding and event case studies.
I hope you enjoy these resources, our news and we look forward to welcoming you to the Centre soon.

GCCEC UPDATES:
CASE STUDIES
GCCEC, in partnership with Business Events Australia, has produced a series of video and written case studies that showcase recent events at the venue. They allow clients to visualise how our flexible spaces can be used for all kinds of events from exhibitions, gala dinners, and meetings to full venue takeover conferencing. From Domino’s to Deloitte, and AREC to Adventure Expo, the videos allow a peek behind the curtain of events for industry, corporates and associations.
OUR COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY
A leader in sustainability in the business event industry, GCCEC has released a video to showcase our commitment. Listen to our CEO, Adrienne Readings and team members, and Stewart Moore, CEO of EarthCheck talk through what initiatives we have in place to reduce our impact on the environment. GCCEC also offers a Green Event Checklist to help encourage sustainability in event planning.
INTERNATIONAL BIDDING
International events can be years in the making and the bidding process is highly competitive. This video showcases the journey from bid to success and why the International Congress of Plant Pathology chose the Gold Coast and GCCEC over other cities in Australia and New Zealand but also other countries, Greece, Canada and South Korea.
ATE23
The Gold Coast will be home to one of the nation’s most valuable tourism events, ATE in 2023. The event is supported by Tourism Australia, Tourism and Events Queensland and the City of Gold Coast. GCCEC will welcome more than 1,500 tourism operators and international travel buyers who will be reintroduced to the city’s event infrastructure, natural beauty and thriving business community.
IMEX22
GCCEC joined the delegation from Tourism Australia at Europe’s largest trade show, IMEX Frankfurt, earlier this month. It was a great opportunity to make new connections, with key global business event planners and reconnect with industry partners to share leads and information.
