Never has our tagline, ‘Experiences Reimagined’ been more fitting.
The past two years have seen us reimagine all types of event experiences at Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. Working closely with event planners, our clients and the health department, we’ve been able to deliver over 100 face-to-face and hybrid events this year. GCCEC has welcomed gala dinners for up to 2,000 guests, conferences up to 2,500 people, meetings, concerts and sporting events. But like every other business, we have had to adapt many times over to ensure we follow everchanging regulations and still offer a great and memorable experience.
As we look forward to 2022, we are excited to see an almost full calendar of business, sporting and entertainment events. We can’t wait to welcome tens of thousands of guests to the Gold Coast and our award-winning venue.
On behalf of the team at GCCEC, I’d like to wish you and your families a happy and healthy holiday season.

GCCEC takes silver at Queensland Tourism Awards
We were proud to take away the Silver award for Business Event Venues at the 2021 Queensland Tourism Awards. Entering this award gave us an opportunity to reflect on all the positive outcomes over a two-year period of unforeseeable and unpredictable challenges. It's a great accolade for the team here at GCCEC.
In November our GM, Adrienne Readings was appointed Chair of the Board for Destination Gold Coast (DGC). In this role, she will continue to advocate for the region as the DGC team raise awareness of our wonderful destination. The DGC Business Events team offer support to events coming to the Gold Coast in the form of information and funding.
In partnership with Tourism Australia, we developed a suite of new virtual tools to allow event planners to explore the venue from every angle using next gen technology. GCCEC+ offers users three ways to tour from any location. These include:
- GCCEC360: an immersive 360-degree video site inspection with interactive hotspots
- GCCECXR: a ground-breaking app using the world’s largest extended reality (XR) technology
- GCCECiMAP: a venue floorplan with click and reveal room capacities
The northern lawn of the convention centre was transformed by Gold Coast Health early in the year. It has since seen thousands of Gold Coasters flock to the vaccination hub. As with all venues across Queensland, our centre can only allow admission to fully vaccinated individuals. Our security team is on hand to sight proof of vaccination.
GCCEC will be closed from Thursday 23 December, reopening on Monday 10 January 2022.
