The Gold Coast is proudly on show once again at Gold Coast Business Events This is Gold Coast 2016 Business Exchange (3 – 4 June), with the main expo hosted by the regions prominent conferencing venue the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition (GCCEC).
The multi-award winning GCCEC is no stranger to challenging convention and thinking alike, through continuous innovation in sustainable practices and investment in infrastructure and technology, the GCCEC ensures end-to-end experiences are not only seamless but are the cornerstone of GCCEC’s boutique modern offering.
Last year, the venue took out the accolade for ‘Best Stand’ as voted by industry peers, and this year, the GCCEC is hoping to capitalise on its success by showcasing yet another collaboratively designed stand that brandishes clever design, fused together with repurposed materials to create a multi-sensory audio and visual experience.
The GCCEC team designed and executed the Centre’s four metre by three metre trade stand from repurposed timber pallets, upcycled last years backdrop and cleverly used the white flooring and skeletal expo framework to bring to life an augmented reality masterpiece, using technological innovation in the form of projection mapping.
Celebrating a key drawcard, the Gold Coast’s famed surf beaches, GCCEC’s audio visual team created content in-house designed to blend projected images of water, sand and the Centre’s brand tagline – love is in the details, on a multi-layered irregular surface area.
Acting as an unorthodox screen, the stand floor itself is awash with waves thanks to two digital projectors suspended 10 metres above ground level. Built-in stand speakers project the sound of lapping waves to create a soundscape complementary of bespoke video content.
Vision is the fastest moving element of audio visual technology according to GCCEC Audio Visual manager Ben Morris, making it a compelling drawcard for event organisers seeking the “wow-factor”.
“This is a great opportunity to showcase how projection mapping technology can be accessible to all event planners.
“The technique by nature is scalable from small installations to large buildings and natural landscapes. When well executed, images can be distorted and blended onto irregular designed surfaces, such as our custom build countertop and expo stand floor to create an a unique backdrop.
“Factoring in key considerations including accessibility to rigging, and working with a tight budget, we were able to deploy cost effective solutions, integrated clever content unique to our region and our Centre branding to transform a small area into dynamic example of how events can be brought to life, Morris said.”
The result has been a win-win for the Centre, attracting a plethora of interest at today’s exhibition, and is great example of how upcycling and modern technology can coexist in spectacular fashion.
The GCCEC has continued to set the standard for sustainable event management and has also made significant investment in its infrastructure and technology to remain as one of Australia’s leading conference and events venue and event destinations.
