EVENT COMMUNITY SUPPORTS SURF GIRL CELEBRATION

Surf Live Saving Queensland’s (SLSQ) Surf Girl Awards 2020 was held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) on Friday night. The organisation, venue and production company joined forces to ensure an unforgettable evening for the surf lifesaving community.

The annual event was held in GCCEC’s arena, draped in gold, complemented by intelligent lighting design, and giant illuminated letters flanking the stage. The arena, which can seat over 4,100 auditorium style, or more than 1,400 banquet style, was set with tables for 4  to 7, allowing the event to take place under current COVID Safe regulations.

GCCEC was approved to operate under its Site Specific COVID Safe Plan in June and can host events that can no longer fit into to smaller venues, as well as the usual conferences, dinners and exhibitions.

Surf Life Saving Queensland CEO, Dave Whimpey said, “We thought hosting our Surf Girl event would not have been possible in 2020, after having to cancel our original function in May due to COVID-19 restrictions.

“We greatly appreciate the effort the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre have gone to in making this event possible, while adhering to government regulations.”

Ben Morris, Executive Manager – Technology added, “It’s a pleasure to see events back at the Centre and we’re doing everything possible to maximise the guest’s engagement using our larger spaces and out of the box event design.”

“The goal is to create a memorable and safe environment. Over the COVID shutdown period, we’ve worked closely with our community and are enjoying the legacy this has created both with the team and our clients.”

Caroline Hutchison, General Manager of Events Fantastic commented, “We’re really excited to be back in the swing of things and help deliver an exceptional experience for the attendees of the Surf Girl Awards 2020.”
