GOLD COAST READY WHEN BUSINESS RETURNS

Executive Manager of AV Technology at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre, Ben Morris, and his team will be ready to deliver exceptional events when the sector is back on track.

Micenet spoke to Ben about the “high touch” approach the centre takes which, because of its boutique nature, is able to deliver personalisation of event technology with the same quality of larger centres.

Q: How do you deliver a more personal touch to the availability of event technology you have at the GCCEC?

A: The team culture supports and empathises with users of our technology. Audio-visual technology is the conduit for communication, the fundamental reason people meet. Whilst there is a standard that must be met for the quality of equipment and systems, the quality of the experience is often dictated by the human interactions that support the technology. From the initial contact through to delivery, our technology team understand the journey of the organiser. They help build a tailored solution to support and enhance their event with technology. At GCCEC, having flexible spaces and limited installed AV means every event gets a genuinely bespoke solution. Our technology offering is designed to streamline and enhance the presentation but never take away from the comfort of the presenter, the audience and the organiser.

Q: Some clients may be new to the event sector and AV and event technology can be a little daunting. What is your approach to help put their mind at rest?

A: A sense of empathy and focus on support is critical for the technical team to deliver positive experiences. Our team needs to put themselves in the shoes of the client. Through consultation without using technical jargon, we can build an understanding of the technology solution. Our approach is to focus on the outcomes of technology rather than the complexity of the solution. It’s our job to ensure the message is conveyed and enhanced without layers of complexity or stress.
