I always knew AV was for me because when I was a kid, I used to pull apart all my electronics gear and figure out how they worked and put them all back together. And that's pretty much what we do most days here. I'm Chris Davey, Production Manager here at Gold Coast Convention Centre. My role is to plan and organise the event technically, making sure we have all the right gear on the job, the right people, lining up all the ducks to make sure that it all comes into place on the installation day.
My favourite part of the job is problem-solving. I love picking up the pieces of the puzzle and putting them together. Every show has got its own difficulties and intricacies. Here at the Gold Coast Convention Center, we're always pushing the boundaries of technology. So installed a 32-meter curve screen, which uses four projectors to cover the canvas of the screen. We get a lot of satisfaction out of the end result piecing everything together from the ground up, and making a dream a reality for a client
