The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC), part of the STAR Entertainment Group continues to be a focal point for business events. The Centre is well placed to soak up the wave of confidence that is transfixing the City of Gold Coast thanks to a flurry of investment in infrastructure and major development ahead of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
Enhancing the city in readiness for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games (GC2018) is a high priority, and with 28 major development projects given the green light, the city skyline is rapidly evolving.
Announced last year, the Broadbeach dining and entertainment precinct, conveniently located within walking distance of the Centre, is set to undergo a major upgrade. The multi-million dollar facelift further emphasises the family–orientated ambiance which appeals to conference organisers and delegates that like to stay and holiday post conference.
Continued investment in the region is set to further complement the $350m redevelopment of GCCEC’s sister property Jupiters Hotel and Casino and with two nearby shopping centre’s also being overhauled - Broadbeach continues to offer the perfect blend of business and leisure.
In one of Australia’s fastest growing cities, the Centre remains an economic powerhouse generating $200 million annual stimulus for the wider city. Ongoing investment in the region is also reflective of GCCEC’s continued success, having recently celebrated its best fiscal year on record for a third consecutive year.
There is a wave of confidence resinating with investors and developers right through to government, none more so than the recent funding of Stage 2 of the light rail, according to GCCEC General Manager, Adrienne Readings.
“Connecting to heavy rail has further solidified the destination as an easy city in which to work and conference by providing a convenient gateway for travel, which has proved popular for many of our business events.”
As an industry-leading venue located within one of Australia’s most attractive tourism destinations, the Broadbeach master plan ensures the precinct remains a thriving and dynamic catalyst for enticing business events and hosting major public events pre and post GC2018.
