The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre Linkage Grants reopened July 1, offering $5,000 to successful applicants in the field of academia. The most recent round of Linkage Grants attracted a record number of 52 applicants in the first quarter of this year.
Launched in 2014, Linkage Grants is an initiative of the Centre that provides the opportunity for Queensland-based professors and academics to attend international conferences in their field of expertise. Applicants must show that they have strong ties to industry and the potential to influence decision makers to attract conferences with 500-1000 delegates per day to the Gold Coast.
The program is integral to building strong ties to international networks, with the ultimate goal of attracting valuable international conferences to the Gold Coast. The Gold Coast is a world class destination for business events with superior facilities, services and leisure offerings.
“The program encourages personal and professional growth and development for successful applicants as well as raising the profile and research conducted by our partner institutes in South-East Queensland,” said Sam Hills, Linkage Grants program manager.
“Business events are a major contributor to economic growth and stability, and the program has helped secure industry conferences for the next five years from around the globe.”
