GCCEC Now Home to Lifeline Bookfest Yearly Sale!

Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre Now Home to Lifeline Bookfest Yearly Sale!

The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) welcome’s the Gold Coast Lifeline Bookfest for the first time over 11-13 April 2014. Running over three days, the GCCEC will open its doors from 8am to 5pm daily to welcome bookworms, collectors and bargain hunters.

The event boasts a large array of books, with over 10,000 pre-loved books in more than 25 different genres priced from as low as 50 cents! Organisers have said that this year’s event will be the largest Bookfest that has been held on the Gold Coast with over 40% more books to choose from this year.

The Bookfest along with Lifeline’s other signature event the famous $2 Clothing Sale has both relocated to GCCEC from Parklands Showgrounds. Due to great success over the years, and as Lifeline events have as grown in notoriety on Gold Coast so has the demand for extra space.

“We could only set up this size event with the assistance of the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre,” said Lifeline Gold Coast Business Manager, Jim Dale.

“Bookfest is Gold Coast Lifeline’s biggest fundraisers; it is so amazing and inspiring to see year after year growing local support from our community at this event,” Jim Dale added.

More than 6,000 people are expected to attend Bookfest with all funds going to Lifeline’s 24 hour 13 11 14 Crisis Support Line and crisis support programs. Jim Dale hopes the event will raise in excess of $150,000 during which a mammoth 4,500 transactions are expected to transpire.

Organising an event of this magnitude is something the GCCEC and Lifeline are well versed in. The GCCEC will assist with the delivery of 230 crates of books weighing approximately 120 tonnes in total. The books will be transported on six semi trailers over three days while 100 volunteers will be on hand to set-up the event. A further two days will be dedicated post event to remove unsold stock and clean-up.

The event is exceptionally unique attracting avid book collectors hunting for rare tittles and signed copies from as far as New Zealand, Darwin and Sydney.

The GCCEC is the perfect location for families and individuals who make the annual pilgrimage to the leisure capital of Australia keen to snag a bargain, soak up the sun and stay on to holiday and play in Broadbeach.
